KKDG’s involvement in the project began at it’s inception as we worked together with the project engineer and civil engineer to situate the new house on the site with careful consideration to the site’s terrain and natural character. KKDG worked with the owners to create a Napa style garden that blended with the existing surroundings and complimented the architecture of the house. Mature field-dug olive trees relocated from Northern California were instrumental in providing that desired character and style. While the olives and a mix of ornamental grasses evoke the Napa farm style, a selection of native plants help blend the garden into the surrounding hillside. A series of outdoor rooms were created, using both hardscape and planting elements, to facilitate connections between the indoor spaces and unique characteristics throughout the site. The total landscape design provides year-round interest and ample spaces for entertainment and enjoyment by all who visit the property.
