Construction is wrapping up on this Menlo Park back yard. The owners have an extensive program for this relatively small 2,000 square foot space. Their wish list included a plunge pool, fountain, shower, fireplace, a hanging bed, dining and lounge area, and a solid roof arbor, and KKDG was able to include all these features within the limited space. While one spouse craves sun, the other seeks shade. Varying spaces accommodate the different personalities and preferences of the owners. Materials were selected to tie the new landscape elements back to the house and to create the appearance of an expansive space. The different landscape spaces connect to each other and the house and make the back yard a series of exterior rooms as well as an extension of the house.
